What used to be the Midsummer Night's Festival will be the Fête de la Musique from this year onwards.

Over 1,300 cities around the world and over 80 cities in Germany celebrate it every year on 21 June. The cities of Leipzig, Halle, Jena, Weimar, Apolda and Eisenberg have been celebrating the Fête for years, and Naumburg is now finally joining in.

The concept is simple: Every year on the longest day, 21 June, musicians play free of charge for visitors. This is also the case this year in Naumburg's cathedral quarter.

The entire Steinweg will be full of street musicians playing unamplified.

In the courtyards (7 locations) along the Steinweg, including the cathedral garden and St Martin's Cathedral School, music groups will also be giving free concerts - some of them on stages. A unique opportunity to present the region musically.

Whether amateur or professional musicians, music choirs or orchestras: every style will be represented and this will also apply to the guests of the festival. There are also plans to revitalise the intersection of Lindenring between Rosengarten and Reußenplatz as a music mile; two local restaurants have already confirmed their participation.
