8 September 2024 is Open Monument Day throughout Germany. This year under the motto: "True signs. Contemporary witnesses of history". The focus of the day of action is on monuments as authentic witnesses. They symbolise history, time periods and regions as well as very personal stories. The diverse historical buildings always have a meaning and symbolic power for their immediate surroundings or far beyond, both regionally and nationally. As landmarks and "signs" of the region, they contribute to orientation and identification and reflect the "real".
To mark the occasion, special free guided tours of Naumburg Cathedral, St Mary's Church and the Epiphany Chapel will be organised from the cathedral square. The four cathedral towers in particular make it a landmark that stands out in the landscape from afar - a centre of attraction for many visitors.
The free guided tours will take place on 8 September 2024 at 13:30, 15:30 and 17:00.
We recommend that you register priorly via our visitor centre.
