Naumburg Cathedral is one of the most beautiful and important churches of the High Middle Ages. On July 1, 2018, the cathedral was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List as a masterpiece of human creativity and a special intersection of the European transfer of knowledge.
The World Heritage Committee recognized the artistic qualities of the cathedral, which provide insight into the art, architecture and technology of the 13th century. The west choir, created by the so-called Naumburg Master, was particularly impressive for its integration of architecture, sculptures and stained glass.
The Naumburg Cathedral was therefore on July 1, 2023, the 5-year anniversary of the acquisition of the UNESCO World Heritage title. Hundreds of guests came to Naumburg Cathedral for special guided tours with Uta von Naumburg and the Naumburg Master, a colorful festive program awaited visitors in the Cathedral Garden with many cultural and culinary offerings, a huge anniversary cake and a special fashion show.
